File Manager - File Explorer Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the File Manager - File Explorer (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by Alpha Apps Studio INC (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Free service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".

Information Collection and Use

The Application collects information when you download and use it. This information may include information such as

  • Your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address)
  • The pages of the Application that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages
  • The time spent on the Application
  • The operating system you use on your mobile device

File Manager requests access

We respect your privacy. This File Manager requests access to your device storage so you can browse, open, move, copy, rename, delete, share, and organize files (photos, videos, audio, documents). Files remain on your device unless you share them. We do not access or transmit your files to our servers . You can deny permissions — some features will be limited.

Full privacy-policy section (detailed)

1. Summary
This File Manager app needs permission to access files on your device so it can perform file browsing and management tasks (view, copy, move, rename, delete, compress, , share, and open files). This section explains what file access permissions the app requests, why they’re needed, what data (if any) is collected, and how we protect your privacy.

2. Permissions we may request and why

Note: Android permission names vary by OS version. We request only the permissions required for the features you choose to use.

A. Manage external storage / All files access

Android name: MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (All files access; Android 11+ special permission)
Why we request it: Required for full file-management functionality (accessing and modifying files across external storage directories) when scoped storage prevents a single API from reaching all locations.

User impact: You’ll be shown a system screen to grant this special permission. If denied, core features that need broad file access will be limited.

Data handling: Files are processed/stored only on-device unless you explicitly export or upload them.
B. Read / Write external storage (legacy)

Android names (older OS): READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
Why we request them: To list, read, and modify files on older Android versions where these permissions control storage access.

Data handling: Same as above — file operations happen locally.

C. Media permissions (Android 13+ scoped)
Android names: READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO

Why we request them: To display and manage the device’s photos, videos, and audio files without requiring full storage permissions.

The Application does not gather precise information about the location of your mobile device.
